Goal Setting

So I've known about goal setting for years, and even that you need to do it, but never have, the reason might have been not sure of exactly how or even what I wanted or maybe just procrastination. So why is it finally time to sit goals for me?
I picked up my daughter from her guitar lessons. She hadn't been to her lessons in a month. She hadn't practiced in just as long. So I asked her if she really wanted to play the guitar. She said "Yes" I then asked if she just wanted to ba able to strum it or really play. She said she wanted to be good at playing it. So I asked "how long was your lesson" She replied 30 minutes. I asked that wasn't very long was it. She said "no" I then asked when she wanted to play good by. She replied 1 year. I asked if she had heard of goals. She let me know she hadn't. I said a goal is something you want to accomplish in a certain amount of time. First you set the goal and then you go back and figure out what it is going to take to accomplish that goal in that amount of time. So we figured out if she would just practice 30 minutes a day for a year she would be playing good. She also wants to make her high school basketball team. So I told her that it was a good time to set some goals for the things she wants in life. Now remember I have really never set a goal. I just jump in and go for it. As I am telling her I said " I want to get a pilots license and just think if I had set a goal of being a pilot when I was your age I would be already.
So when you want to learn be the teacher you learn it best. I went to lunch at work that night and took out my notebook and started writing down the stuff that I wanted to do, have and be. I started setting goals. I then went on to start figuring out what it was going to take for me to accomplish my first goal. I broke it down into smaller pieces and figured out that my first goal was a lot easier to accomplish then I would have figured. So now I am starting the work to accomplish my first goal.
Thank you Sis for needing the lesson with goals. I learned a lot!
